Pelonis ceramic tower heater stopped working

Lasko-brand space heaters with ceramic heating elements are designed to be portable, efficient and easy to use. If your Lasko space heater fan doesn't work, it's possible the heater's ceramic element has failed, or there may be another problem.

In either case, Lasko prescribes a few troubleshooting techniques that you can perform at home. If these troubleshooting techniques do not solve your problem, call a qualified Lasko technician.

Further tampering with your Lasko ceramic-element space heater may void its warranty or damage the unit. Unplug your Lasko ceramic-element space heater. Plug another appliance into the same outlet. If the second appliance does not operate, the problem lies with the outlet and not with the Lasko ceramic heating element. Plug the heater into a working outlet to return it to normal working order.

If the second appliance operates normally, plug the Lasko ceramic space heater back in, turn it on and move on to Step 2. Check the temperature setting. Many Lasko ceramic personal heater models come with internal thermostats. If the temperature in the room matches or exceeds the preset temperature on the space heater's thermostat, the Lasko heater will not turn on.

Raise the heater's temperature setting and the Lasko heating element should engage again. If it does not, move on to Step 3. Leave the Lasko ceramic heater to cool down for an hour or so. The unit may be too hot. Lasko heaters have automatic shutoff devices to prevent the heaters from overheating and posing a fire hazard.

Move the Lasko heater to a location with plenty of space around it to facilitate adequate air circulation. Turn the space heater back on. If it does not resume regular function, turn the unit off and move on to Step 4. Clean the unit. Dirt buildup may cause your Lasko heater to run for a few minutes and shut off, then repeat the cycle repeatedly.

Unplug the unit.

Attach the brush attachment to your vacuum cleaner's hose. Vacuum all elements of the surface of the Lasko ceramic heater. Brush away any stubborn dirt buildup with an old toothbrush. Wipe away remaining soil with a soft cloth. Plug the unit in again. If the personal heater does not function normally, move on to Step 5. Step 2 Check the temperature setting.A great floor fan is an invaluable asset in your home.

It allows you to circulate air and feel cooler when the temperatures rise, and you can often save money on your electricity bills when you use your fan instead of turning on your air conditioner on warm but not yet stifling days.

You can even use a floor or table fan on a low setting to help circulate heat in the winter time — a particularly effective method for making a pellet or wood stove work harder in your home. It sounds simple, but your first step should be to make sure the cord is securely plugged in. Over time, vibrations from a fan motor can loosen a plug from an older outlet, so check this first. If your plug keeps falling out, you may want to replace the receptacle for a nice, tight fit.

You can skip to Step 6 to continue troubleshooting at this point. If your cord is plugged in but nothing happens when you turn on your fan, check to see that you have electricity running to the outlet.

To do this, open your breaker panel and look to see if the circuit breaker has been tripped. If you notice that a breaker has been tripped, flip it back on and then try turning on your fan again.

If it works, you should be all set. Though you may want to investigate what caused the breaker to trip in the first place.

If it works, this is a sign that you have an electrical problem. You can test the flow of power to your outlet by purchasing an inexpensive receptacle tester. If you discover that your outlet has no power even after resetting the circuit breaker, call an electrician for help. Many fans — especially large, industrial-strength ones — are equipped with a thermal fuse for safety.

Like the circuit breakers in your house, these fuses are designed to break the electrical connection when too much electricity causes your fan to overheat. When the fuse melts, it breaks the connection and cuts power to the fan.

Check the cord and the inside of your fan for this fuse. Is it frayed?Honeywell space heaters can be an excellent way to warm up any room of the home. Space heaters can really come in handy for heating spare bedrooms, basements, utility rooms, laundry rooms and more. While most of the time a quality space heater will provide years of trouble-free service, it is important to know what to do when things go wrong. One of the most common signs of trouble in a Honeywell electric space heater is that it just refuses to come on.

When the heater refuses to turn on, a number of things could be to blame, and it is important to examine each of those factors to determine where the problem lies. The first thing you should check is the electrical outlet itself. Plug another appliance into the outlet to make sure power is flowing to the receptacle. If power is flowing to the receptacle but the heater still does not come on, carefully check the electrical cord for problems. If you find frayed wires or tears in the cord, stop using the heater until you can have the cord replaced.

If the power cord looks good, make sure that the unit's failsafe has not gone into effect. Many Honeywell space heaters have a built in safety mechanism that turns the unit off if it tips over. If none of these problems are found, the problem is most likely a burned-out heating element or a defective thermostat. Sometimes a Honeywell electric space heater will power on but fail to provide sufficient heat--or any heat at all. When this happens it is important to take a close look at the heating elements to make sure they are glowing.

If the heating elements are glowing but sufficient heat is not being produced, those heating elements probably need to be replaced soon. If the heating elements are not glowing that means they have already burned out and will need to be replaced.

Many Honeywell electric space heaters are equipped with fans to help the warm air circulate around the room. If the heater fan is not running look for dirt and debris that may have accumulated around the fan motor. This dirt and debris can block the fan and prevent it from running. Dust and dirt can also cause the fan to overheat, and this can cause the heater's safety mechanisms to shut it down.

If an excessive build-up of dirt and debris is found, you can use a vacuum cleaner to remove it.

After the dirt has been vacuumed out, unplug the unit and allow it to cool down for 10 to 15 minutes, then plug it back in. On March 31,the electrical cord caught fire at the outlet. Fortunately it was the only thing plugged into that outlet at the time, so the damage was to my wall and outlet only in addition to the heater cord.

The heater was on low at the time and I had been using it for about an hour. There was nothing wrong with my outlet. The plug fit snugly into the outlet originally and afterward it was fused to my outlet and I had to yank it out so hard that it pulled the plate off the wall.

I ordered this on Walmart's website so I have proof of purchase. I will contact the company and update this review. I think there needs to be some type of legal action taken against this company.

Bought numerous Lasko Space Heaters these past years, for all the rental Units. There were problems. Units were not as great as expected. Two were discarded. Recently, I noticed the boxes said 3-year warranty, and, we were about to discard 2 more units So, I contacted the Company.

They said that they no longer produce that model that explains why we had so much bad luck with our units. But, they'd replace with a different model. Now, they wanted the receipts and cords.

I found the receipts, and read the receipts and numbers from the machines and the cords, over the phone. Now, they wanted things mailed. So, I did all that.A ceramic heater is among the most common of domestic heating appliances. Consisting of a ceramic plate and aluminum foils, ceramic heaters are powered by electricity. The heat generated within the heater is directed within the room via a fan that blows hot air.

Ceramic heaters are preferred for their lightweight construction, easy-to-handle configuration and portability. However, the most appreciable feature of a ceramic heater is its energy savings. These heaters are known for their energy efficiency and many of them are sold with energy ratings which highlights their ability to reduce power bills.

Manually re-setting a ceramic heater is vital from a functional and security point-of-view. Being an electronic heating device, the ceramic heater can cause electrical accidents if handled neglectfully. This is more likely to happen in homes with children, wherein the ceramic heater might be accidentally switched-on.

Manually resetting the ceramic heater is essentially about resetting the timer. The timer can be understood as the main, regulatory device in the heater than controls the heating duration of the equipment. This is helpful since once set, the timer ensures that the heater is automatically switched-off within a defined time limit, thereby preventing overheating of the appliance.

Most of the contemporary ceramic heaters have a LCD timer. This is useful since the LCD display ensures easy visibility of the timer settings. Start by ensuring that the electrical cords of the ceramic heater are tightly connected. Lose wires might switch-off the heater during the setting session which can erase the timer settings.

Identify the LCD panel of the ceramic heater. This is rather easy since the panel provides a bright, digital display. The panel contains a "Menu" listing. The menu is essentially a long list of all the product features than can be controlled via manual handling.

Keep scrolling along the menu options to locate the icon of the Timer. This icon is usually in the shape of a clock. Some of models might have the timer function pre-programmed in the automatic mode.JavaScript seems to be disabled in your browser. Why does my heater make a funny or loud sound when I use it? Some models of heaters will make certain sounds, which are normal. For example Radiant, Parabolic, Quartz, and Baseboard heaters will have a crackling or vibrating sound coming from them when they are first turned on.

This is caused by the heating elements expanding as they heat up which is normal. NOTE: If you feel heat on all the heat settings then the heater is working properly as an element would both heat up and produce heat or not work at all. Here are some common reasons that portable electric heaters shut off: The thermostat on the heater is not set high enough. The heater needs to be reset due to an overheat situation.

Consult your owners manual for additional details. If the unit has tip-over safety protection: To reset, simply place the heater in an upright position on a level surface. It is possible that a new heater will produce an odor when first used.

This is normal and should go away after the heater has been used for a while. A heater can also have a burning odor from dust building up on the element. This buildup on a hot element can cause a burning smell. In most cases a warm cord does not mean that there is a problem with a heater. The most common causes for that are: An old or worn out outlet: If there is a loose connection between the plug and the socket then that will cause resistance and in turn heat build up.

If there is not a tight fit between the plug and the outlet then the outlet should be replaced by qualified personnel. An overloaded circuit: Heaters can use up to watts of electricity and if you have other appliances in either the same outlet or on the same circuit breaker then a warm plug or tripping of a circuit breaker can occur. Under rated wiring: In some older homes the wiring is unable to support the amount of wattage used by the heater, which can be as high as Watts.

Under rated Extension cord: An underrated extension cord causes resistance and heat builds up. You must use at least a gauge extension cord rated for at least watts if an extension cord must be used. Heaters can use up to watts and
